I’ve used two of these motherboards in home-built systems, both with Intel Core i7-2600K Processor 3.4GHz 8 MB Cache Socket LGA1155 CPUs and Corsair Memory 8 Dual Channel Kit DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 memory. These systems have been nothing short of great so far. The only issue I had was trying an ATI video card the first time around. I was leery, having had some issues with ATI on Intel systems in the past but I went for a price deal. All I got was a black screen. I returned the ATI and got a NVIDIA card — NVIDIA has always been my first choice for graphics cards — and I’ve had no issues (now with a different NVIDIA card in each of the two systems).

I’ve had some motherboard death issues in the past with cheaper systems I bought already assembled. I feel like the military specs used in this MSI board are going to give me a better shot at a seeing some long life. Time will tell.

Amazon has become my prime buying spot for custom-built systems these days. I’ll still usually look around but it’s not too often that I find a better price than what I get on Amazon, particularly with my Amazon Prime membership, which is well worth the money. Even if I find a better price elsewhere, I rarely get the free shipping I get with Prime and the delivery times these days are nothing short of astounding.

    Good Mobo, August 7, 2011

Past few months no problems except had to RMA the first board for a faulty BIOS CPU temperature tool(constant 97c). RMAing mobos isn’t too uncommon (so it seems).
No overclocking for me, though there are available features that support it.
Good economical choice if you plan on using a Xfire/SLI setup.

    My Specs:
    i5 2500k
    GTX 580
    Sound Card

So. I cannot waste time giving exact specs, but the clickable bios is amazing, easy to use and FULL of features. Overclocking GENE SUCKS as it ups voltage too much and will give you a decent overclock, but man is this board easy to use! Looks great, bright LEDs, runs cool and has allot of slots. Not enough PCI places, ONLY ONE USB FRONT HEADER!!! (Only supported 2 USB ports up front for me :[) Only major complaint is that overclocking is not as stable on this board, made it to 4.6GHz before I got crashes on the 2600k with proper and higher voltages. Vdroop isn’t apparent but my 6970 does crash on occasion, but I think that is some ATI junk problem. For the money, FANTASTIC. Crossfirex or SLI on a great budget, I paid $120 for this board when it first came out.
