Hyper X 4GB PC2-8500 1066MHz DDR2 Non-ECC CL5 (5-5-5-15) DIMM (Kit of 2). Standard 256M X 64 Non-ECC 1066MHz 240-pin Unbuffered DIMMs (SDRAM-DDR2, 2.2V, CL5, Gold). KHX8500D2K2/4G is a kit of two 256M x 64-bit 2GB (2048MB) DDR2-1066 CL5 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) memory modules, based on sixteen 128M x 8-bit DDR2 FBGA components per module. Total kit capacity is 4GB (4096MB). Each module pair has been tested to run at DDR2-1066MHz at a latency timing of 5-5-5-15 at 2.2V. The SPD is programmed to JEDEC standard latency 800Mhz timing of 5-5-5-15 at 1.8V. This 240-pin DIMM uses gold contact fingers and requires +1.8V.

Excellent, fast, stable memory module. BIOS must be set manually to acheive 1066MHz running 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2V+. No problems so far. No heat issues. Installed an 80mm cooling fan over the memory and NB heatsink just for added measure. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA770-UD3 AM2+. I initally installed the Corsair Dominator PC-8500 1066MHz 4GB EPP Dual Channel which continued to dump and BSOD. I thought the Corsair may have been defective so I returned it to Corsair for a replacement, to no avail, same results. After installing the Kingston, my computer has been very stable with the Vista Ultimate OS 64 bit. I don’t think the Corsair was compatible with the Gigabyte mobo. Quality Vendor list depicted the Corsair memory but not the Dominator. I have used Kingston over the years and was always satisfied. Kingston will be my first option for all of my future upgrade needs.

    A Kid’s Review

Well this is my second pair of this beautiful memory, run very fast at 1066 and 2.2v 5-5-5-15, if you want to run 4 x 1gb you have to set it at 2.5v to run stable at least in my MSI p45 PLatinum,

Pros: Fast, no problems at all. Running great at 5-5-5-15 @ 1066, 2.0V. The stickers on my pair actually say 2.3V, but I have zero problems running at 2.0V. Blue color perfectly matches my motherboard’s RAM slots.

    Cons: None

Other Thoughts: SPD on this memory is set to the JEDEC standard 5-5-5-18 @ 800, 1.8V. Some people call this a con, but in reality, it’s exactly as Kingston intended. Kingston even mentions it on the spec sheet if you check their website. It’s a simple matter of changing your BIOS settings to get the higher speed. If you absolutely must have RAM that plugs-n-plays at 1066, then look elsewhere.
