Used this on a new build because I’ve been burned enough with Asus. They sat on one of my mobo’s for a year, first few months because they changed their mind on RMA repair, then they lost it in their warehouse. A year later and some threatening I finally got “a” mobo back.

    Anywho about this motherboard…

    Pros:
    – BIOS interface is awesome, blows away what I’m used to with Asus. (I dont use that 3D nonsense and go straight for the advanced view)
    – Easy to upgrade the firmware before any OS load.
    – Easy to load the XMP of the 2400MHz memory.
    – Included Wifi/Bluetooth card
    – Significant power reduction for me
    – Read about the ultra durable features of this board, cool stuff. protection against electrostatic, humidity, temps, etc.
    – A ton of connection ports and features I’ll probably never need, like the backup BIOS switch.
    – Other obvious stuff like 6Gbit sata and PCI 3.0.
    – 2nd SATA controller saved my sanity trying to raid some non-OS drives on 2nd rig… but would of been happier if the main intel sata controller wasn’t crap.

    Cons:
    – So far the email support is horrible. Good thing the hardware is isn’t.
    – Driver support on their site needs help, like for Vista X64
    – I dont like their hardware RAID at all. Previous experience with Nvidia controlled BIOS RAIDS were way superior and didn’t require special raid drivers for OS or VD (virtual disk) configuration in BIOS wiping out anything you had on drive.

    Upgraded Build Items: (~$800)
    Intel i7-3770k (wrote separate review)
    Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB
    G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) F3-2400C10D-16GTX
Cooler Master 212 EVO fan <- awesome fan! Cool and quiet but HUGE.

    Pre-existing build items:
    EVGA 590GTX
    Cooler Master 1200 PSU
    Antec 900 case

    Conclusion:
You will need to know what you’re doing with this motherboard because the support and drivers are lacking but for the price this new build is well worth it. Very happy in the end with this system. Did I mention dont buy Asus?

ps – download speeds of Gigabyte drivers from america link are real slow, just get them from europe.

I hear alot of people having trouble with this motherboard but every thing works perfectly for me

    Bios vF4 (shipped version)
    i7 3770k @ Stock
    16GB GSkill 1600mhz
    1TB Caviar Black
    Corsair AX850w
    Windows 7 x64
    Corsair 650D Case O.o
    Shipping soon (Evga GTX 570)

Edit: I have noticed that if you shutdown the computer and immediately try to turn it back on it will fail and the motherboard will display error code 96, but if you wait 10-20 seconds everything works fine…so far

ok mobo but has some issues, June 13, 2012

Overall the mobo has some potential nice features if not for the problem issues

    PROS:
    * three pci 3.0 slots so your not slowed to 2.0 speeds
    *onboard M-sata
    * three usb 3.0 headers on mobo and some 2.0 headers
    *z77 chipset
    *comes with wireless and bluetooth
    *dual lan ports for hardwired
    *well packed box
    *front and rear fire-wire connection

    CONS:
    *only two sata 6.0 cables
*90 degree sata cable ends , do they really think we want these? , do they understand how much of a PAIN these ends are and why many customers throw them away? (this issue is with most manufacturers )
*M-sata is sata II not sata III ,gigabyte doesn’t tell you even when you ask but you need a 50mm card not 70 mm length ssd PCB card.
*NO ps2 ports — even high end gaming boards have at least one for the better response time.
*z77 heat sink prevents pcix16 slot one video card form fully seating and heat is placed directly on video cards pcb( I asked before purchasing and was assure by gigabyte online that they designed with clearance but that is not true on my mobo)
*heat form video card resting FIRMLY on z77 heat sink could cause damage to video cards
*front panel usb3.0 that is include is great idea only if you have a old style case that still has floppy drive bays they don’t include a bracket for modern cases with only 5.25″ bays 🙁
*video card blocks use of usb 3.0 headers #2 and #3 plus the 2.0 headers, this should have been considered in the design of the mobo!
    * BIOS is spread out and gets on my nerves , I don’t think I really like it compared to any others I have used
    * system fan control , the bios only allows you to change ALL fan speeds not just one and you can not manual set rpm levels
    * gigabytes online tech service was great about responding RIGHT UP UNTIL I actual purchased the mobo, since then I have not gotten a response 🙁

    Amazon review:
My credit card was BILLED two changes the day I ordered, $1 verification change and $210 for the purchase. This was supposed to be a in stock item and was not even shipped for six days after it was billed to my credit card . I called and asked about this after 4 days and the lady was rude and unhelpful this type of service is why I have not purchased form Amazon as often as other retailers.
