Gorgeous Picture – DVI Cable Sold Separately,
I purchased this monitor to go along with a Mac Mini (mid-2011 model) and I am overall pleased with it. Here’s the 411:
Pros:
– Excellent picture (needed no tweaking out of the box).
– 1080p looks spectacular!
– Integrated speakers (yes they sound tinny, but I didn’t want external speakers taking up space on my desk).
– Matte screen (no glare or reflections in a room with lots of windows/daylight).
– Works with a Mac Mini without hassle… truly plug-n-play.
– Deliciously uniform LED backlighting.
Cons:
– No DVI cable in the box.
– Description here on Amazon doesn’t tell you there is no DVI cable in the box. Even the instructions that come with the monitor make you *think* there should be a DVI cable included, but if you read the exterior of the box, in very small print, it tells you only one video cable is included (a standard RGB). Heck, the ViewSonic website fails to indicate that a DVI cable is sold separately.
– Stand is steady and solid enough, but jiggles a bit if the desk is bumped.
The lack of a DVI cable is probably why this monitor is ~$20 less than other monitors. If using with a Mac Mini, get one of these: BlueRigger High Speed HDMI to DVI Adapter Cable (6.6 Feet/ 2 Meters)
I’d give this monitor 5 stars if the description were updated to make it manifestly clear that a DVI cable is not included.

Good Image Quality, One Major Design Flaw,
So, I love the monitors features and it’s display capabilities, that being said, however, I have a major issue with this monitor and will never buy another, even if it were only $100 and not $139. I ordered this May 1st, with overnight shipping, received it May 2nd, opened the box, plugged it in… no power light. Come to find out, the power switch, a mechanical push in, was wedged out of place so improperly I’d have had to have used my own tools to fix it, voiding the warranty. Attempted to contact the manufacturer, they’d send an advanced replacement, would take 3-5 business days to recieve the new monitor, but they’d also place a hold on my credit card for the amount of the initial purchase until they got the defective unit back. They had another option, where I send the monitor in (3-5 business days) they process it (probably 1-3 business days) they ship me a new one (3-5 business days.) I didn’t ask about who paid for shipping. Instead, I processed the return through Amazon. Amazon did an amazing job shipping out a replacement the same day, and scheduling a UPS pick up for the broken unit. I get the new unit, instead of simply the monitor crate it’s packaged in a second box with some light packing materials (good on Amazon for that!). Open it, set it up, plug it in.. no power light. Look at my power switch, and it’s slightly askew.. I was able to get the monitor to power on without tools, but I’d be hesitant to try to turn it off the right way. I’ll have to unplug it from AC power if I want to shut it down. This is a design flaw. The mechanical power switch requires too much range of motion to activate and can be easily wedged into an unusable position. The performance of the monitor thus far is stellar, the power switch issue aside, so I’ll keep it, but I won’t order Viewsonic again unless it’s a more modern designed power switch. I suggest you look at other similarly priced monitors. 2 Stars from me because of that major issue. Had I not had design issues with 2 monitors in a row, it’d be a 4-5 star review.

I bought two of these for my computer. As dual monitors they are awesome. I have not had any problems so far.
