Allegedly the fastest NB HDD out there.,
I actually bought this as a performance upgrade for my 5 year old Powerbook G4 12″. I looked into SSD PATA drives, but they are becoming increasing more scarce (=expensive) due to the move to SATA. I started hunting for 7200RPM drives when I stumbled on a review that said this is the fastest non-SSD notebook drive out there. I found it for $72 so I gave it a shot. The PB now boots in 41.0 seconds (including POST) vs 51.7 seconds with the old drive. Apps are a lot snappier too! But what is REALLY fast now is shutdown… I wish I had benchmarked that before the upgrade.

|Fast quiet replacement or upgrade for older machines,
I installed this drive in a Dell Inspiron 600m laptop and noticed a significant increase in speed and reduction in noise over the original Hitachi Travelstar. Thanks to the increase in capacity, (160 GB vs. 40 GB) I now have room for music and photo files. The price is reasonable and the installation was easy. The CMOS recognized the drive right away.

Have purchased several of these 160GB hard drives and have never encountered a problem with any of them. This is a name brand quality product for the same price as lower capacity hard drives – bottom line is you get more GB’s per dollar spent.
