Buy it for the 2D not 3D,
THIS WAS NOT PURCHASED THROUGH AMAZON.
Had some problems with amazon so I ended up ordering it from TD.
120HZ
This is REAL 120hz, not the 120/240hz interpolation that big box HDTV brands advertise.
With that said, 120hz means the image is refreshed at a rate of 120 times a second rather than your standard 60.
The image displayed will be incredibly smoother and look more natural. It is also important to note
that this monitor uses DVI-D/HDMI/Display Port (google this). Your graphics card has to support these
connections with supplied cable or you will not be able to enable 120hz.
DO NOT BUY THIS FOR 3D.
I cannot stress that enough, while the 950D has this feature readily available
with the push of a button (and on the included glasses), it is very disappointing (for the price).
The depth of the image projected (adjustable in menu) can be finicky and often warping obscurely of images.
Nvidia 3D Vision is NOT officially supported with this monitor, there are workarounds but
there are no official drivers that support 3D vision, only HD3D by AMD will work.
COLOR
The color out of box is as advertised, 100% photo accuracy. Well not exactly 100% but from my
testing with x-rite, it’s about 95% give or take which is impeccable for a non-IPS panel;
dare I say it’s comparable to U3011 after a bit of calibration. The blacks on this monitor
are deep and are as black as they can get. 1920 x 1080 resolution is not impacted at all at 27″,
contrary to PPI ratings images and text look as sharp as my 30” 2560×1600.
2D 120HZ IS WOW
With the above said in mind, this monitor really shines for 120hz 2D gaming and average consumer desktop use.
Words cannot express how much the difference it makes for daily use, youtube videos will not do this monitor justice
as the upload is capped at 24/30FPS as well as other similar video websites. The experience is very similar
to moving from CRT to LCD; a dramatic difference. If you’re a competitive gamer, especially one that plays
FPS games this monitor will give you the advantage.
ECO SAVING FEATURES
The 950D ships with some standard eco saving features. One notable feature is the eco sensor. It detects
the brightness in the room and movement of objects in front of the monitor. This can be adjusted so it
increases brightness or decreases based on the lighting within the room. If there is no movement
in front of the panel, it will automatically shut off (timer based with options) and turns back on with movement.
PANEL
The panel is made of plastic. The base and the back of the monitor are also plastic but come off as aluminum. There is
no present height adjustment, no vesa mounting holes or any standard way of removing the monitor from the base.
The only adjustment you can make is tilt, about 45 degrees. The bezels are extremely thin, exactly 1/2″.
After 3 hours of use and the panel is still cool to the touch ,a slight warmth at the base.
GRAPHICS CARDS
It is important to note (mentioned above) that your graphics card must support DVI-D/HDMI/ or Display port which can be
checked simply by looking at the back of your video card (where your monitor plugs to). It is also important to
understand that to really see the benefits of 120hz in a gaming environment, you actually have to be
producing a significant amount of FPS (preferably 100+) to take advantage of this monitor. 120HZ must be
enabled on your desktop monitor configuration and also through your graphics card menu (auto detects sometimes).
THINGS TO NOTE (TLDR)
+True 120HZ
+Color accuracy
+Low power consumption
+User interface (very easy to navigate)
+LED back lighting
+ECO saving features are surprisingly useful
+Lightweight
+Thin bezels
+/- Arguably stylish or tacky
+/- Glossy finish
-No VESA mounting
-No Height adjustment only panel tilt (About 45°)
-Monitor is not removable from base
-Had to RMA due to clouding on both corners of the screen
-Battery on glasses lasted about 10-15 hours, not rechargable (runs on button cells)
-Would not suggest this for LAN environment, stable but the base seems fragile
-Requires significant GPU power to output the frames needed for full 120hz
-Price, while I love the monitor it seems $100+ more than it should
-No Nvidia 3D Vision support
-3D performance via monitor
Only knocked off a star because my initial monitor had some serious bleed
and clouding issues. A monitor at this price really shouldn’t have
any clouding and minimal bleed if any. Overall it’s a great purchase
and definitely an upgrade from 60hz ASUS; average users and gamers alike will
appreciate this and I can safely say I will not be going back…

Serious quality control issues,
The monitor itself IS the best 27″ gaming lcd you can buy…..if you get a good one….
There’s some serious quality control issues coming from Samsung Mexican factory where these are made…..newegg is just overloaded with quality control complaints as well as most online retailers, some have even pulled them.
Mine had a multitude of issues, very poorly assembled, the base wasn’t even attached all the way nor does it sit level on the table, it has a built in wobble due to poor assembly. The DVI connection is piss poor at best, if you so much as tap on the base with your finger it will loose it’s picture. There is a enormous amount of back-light bleed in the lower right hand corner where the base attaches to the back of the screen on allot of these because they were not assembled correctly.
Do yourself a favor and make sure if your going to buy one you buy directly from amazon simply for their excellent return policy, not 3rd party sellers because chances are you will have to go through returning at-least 1 of these before you get one that works as it was intended and ALL of these 3rd party sellers will force you to pay return shipping on monitors even when they clearly defective with looming quality control issues that the seller is well aware of….cough…cough…..ANTOnline……
If your thinking of this for eyefinity forget about it…..you will never get 3 monitors that match….ever…..the quality control is boarder line criminal on this one, Samsung delivered an excellent product with the worst build quality I’ve ever seen come from them so it’s only getting 2 stars.

Douglas Neal is wrong:,
The 2 different models are a T or S. The models starting with T are the ones with tv tuner and only 60hz refresh rates. The S models offer a true 120Hz refresh rate via dvi or display port and is designed as a computer monitor.
