Unstable 12 Volt Rail,
I had a new system custom built using the Raidmax 1000W Plus gold power supply. Ran great mostly, but I was getting these random freezes where the graphics would just lock up. I contacted EVGA tech support thinking it might have been the GTX 590 video card. They had me do a number of tests, including checking the voltage fluctuation on the 12 volt rail of the PSU, which they said should be no more than .040. My Raidmax was fluctuating back and forth between 11.985 – 12.038, .053. EVGA told me that this was most likely the cause of my freezes.
The manufacturer replaced the Raidmax with another. Sure enough, it was still doing the same thing when I got it home. I checked the 12 volt rail again and found it had the same amount of fluctuation as the one I replaced. I e-mailed Raidmax tech support but they never got back to me. To make a long story short, I ended up replacing the Raidmax with a Silverstone PSU, which is rock solid on the 12 volt rail and haven’t had one crash since.
I think that Raidmax just has that fluctuation inherent in their PSU. I believe that’s why their tech support did not contact me. It may be that not all systems are as sensitive to that fluctuation, but mine sure was. I’m not taking that chance again.

Outstanding + Proud Owner,
Gold rated mostly modular standard size big fan and nice power was what attracted me to this power supply. Comes in a sturdy hard plastic tool box. Extremely handy for carrying and storage of stuff without damage. I was surprised at the amount of quality work put into the cables and packing as well as the power supply performance. More than enough plugs for all needs than arise. Originally i was going to re-sleeve all the cables myself but felt bad to break up the great quality that is in the cables. The wires are a higher gauge than most power supplies giving more stable power delivery. The sleeving on the cables is top quality, the wires are all quality hot glued under the heat shrinks, makes it sturdy, this came as a great surprise to me. Comes with vibration absorber even though it makes none or any sound, cable management Velcro straps are there, even a manual to install it. Overall this product screams quality and provides much more than i hand anticipated to begin with.
