Awesome bang for your buck,
Even though this is not part of the i series, it provides great price to performance ratios. At first I was kinda skeptical of purchasing this mainly because it is the lower end of intel’s cpus. I mainly use my desktop for school, so I rarely play high-demanding games. On occasion I’ll play something like Modern Warfare 2, Heroes of Newerth, etc. Even for many modern games, they are not quadcore optimized, so getting a decent dual core is the best investment for those who casually play games and do not want to pay the high costs of a decent quadcore. For about $100, it fulfills all my needs and do not regret my purchase.

Good Processor, Great Price,
Bought this for my new fileserver / HTPC. Paired it with Biostar H61MU3 H61 Micro ATX Motherboard (product link wouldn’t work) and Corsair XMS3 4 GB 1333MHz PC3-10666 240-pin DDR3 Memory Kit for Intel Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD CMX4GX3M1A1333C9. It’s running Ubuntu 11.10 with XBMC Eden driving 1080p with audio over HDMI. Great performance, no problems. Simultaneously running full Unity desktop, XBMC Eden, subversion, subsonic, sickbeard, sabnzbd+, deluge, web server, samba, nfs, file synchronization over unison. Haven’t done any encoding, but video playback is smooth. Savings over an i3 is well worth the negligable performance difference.
