New Builds,
I don’t know about the other reviewers….but upgrading an older processor to this one is probably not a good idea due to compatibility issues.
My old Asus P4P800-E Deluxe fried, so I needed a new solution.
The ASUS Core 2 Quad/Intel G41/DDR3/A&V&GbE/Micro ATX Motherboard s P5G41T-M LX is a fine replacement, and works very well with this 3.06Ghz E6600 Dual Core. I’m running a 1 TB SATA Drive (WD Cav Black), using the onboard graphics, and running Win Server 2003. Absolutely no problems building thus far. I installed 4GB of 1333 DDR3 RAM. All 4GB is recognized. Generally easy to install.
My only complaint is that the heat sync that came with this Processor is tremendously horrendous. It’s worse than my old P4 3GHz. Plastic attachment to the mobo just sucks.
If you know what you’re doing, this is an affordable processor for a new build. Again, not something I’d use to upgrade on an older board.

This was my first build & like other first timers, I wanted the best, but had to settle for what I could afford. After looking & comparing CPUs I settled on the E6600, At the time it was in the middle of the road, as processors go, But boy did it have the power. Along with a micro-board, fitted with 4 GB ram, 750W-PSU, 1 TB-HHD, XFX-NiV-9600GTO 750M, Video Card,. With this setup I found that I could Play All of my games at Nearly Full power, with the exception of Crysis2 or some of the newer games coming out. I forgot to mention that this was ran bt a Windows XP Pro – System 3 Build Program. As a matter of fact, Several years later, I’m typing this down on that very unit.

It’s not a huge jump.,
From E5200 to E6600 you would assume it’s a huge jump. Wrong, it’s not. In fact there isn’t a different. I wouldn’t buy this cpu if I could go back. It works, what else can I say. Which is why I rate it 3 stars. Again do yourself a favorite and buy an actual duo core for this price.
