    Owned many of these units. Comes with adapter cables, Caution if you buy a lower priced item either here or elsewhere, as it might not come with the adapter cables. The item sold and shipped by Amazon DOES come with the adapter cables. Caution about trying to save money and buying the previous model (440)USED, if you plan on going Windows 7, as you might run into campatability issues. P.S.for those new to multi-screen cards, this is not for 3D gaming.

    i was using a Matrox quad video card before this one. It died because the fan died on it. I switched to Nvidia because it supported Windows 7 at the time and Matrox didnt. The first card worked and then suddenly quit supporting the multiple screens and finally it was down to 1 monitor it would recognize. I have 4 of the same exact monitor models. I returned the card and got another one. This one worked for about 9 months and then just recently died and again down to 1 screen. I question the quality of the software for this product and the drivers. I think the ATI chipset works better and isnt worth the headaches of Nvidia.

    Purchased “Used – Like New” PNY Technologies NVIDIA Quadro NVS 450 board and cables only. There was one offered for $40 less without cables. There are both active and passive DisplayPort to DVI adapters. To ensure that I got the correct cables ordered the one with cables.

    Cables
    ======

    Four Hewlett-Packard – 481409-001 – DisplayPort to DVI Adapter cables were included with NVS 450 graphics board. Markings on cables: HPK-481409-001(A) VER 3 FOXCONN 1045. The best price that I could find for similar cables was more than the $40 that I paid for them with the graphics board. The NVS450 has two GPUs. Install the cables as stamped under the card connectors which is 1-4-2-3. Monitor Cable 1 goes to GPU 1. Skip a connector then attach Monitor Cable 2 to GPU 2. Monitor Cable 3 goes to the next connector which is also GPU 2. Monitor cable 4 goes to GPU 1. Using this arrangement Monitor 1 will have its own GPU if you install up to 3 monitors.

    Note that the DisplayPort connectors have two pins on the bottom that lock the connectors in place once they have been inserted. A button on the bottom of the connectors retract the pins so the connectors can be removed. The connectors can be inserted without pushing the button and the buttons are hiddend from view once the connectors are inserted.

    CD

    No CD or instructions were included, so downloaded and installed XP driver – 270.71 – 32 bit – English – WHQL – Release date 5/4/201 from PNY.com. Drive and nView installed without problems. Also downloaded and printed User’s Manual. The PDF […] is the downloadable User’s gude for the PNY Nvidia Quadro Nvs 450. Downloaded from NVIDIA.com .XP driver – 270.73 32 bit. It too installed without problems.

    Attempts to install any of the XP drivers 275.36, 275.65, and 275.89 from NVIDIA.com resulted in installation failure for driver and nView. Before each attempt uninstalled driver, nVIEW, and used Custom Installation with box checked to “Perform a clean installation”. Tried from Administrator login but still failed. Running the install with log output showed Error: “0x80070005 – Access is denied.”

    Microsoft knowledge base KB867466 described a similar error caused by security permissions for CMD.EXE in WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 folder. Increased permission to Full Control and ran install again from Administrator login. Driver 275.89 (the latest at this time) and nView 135.85 installed successfully.

    BIOS
    ====

    Received NVS 450 with BIOS 62.98.43.00.07. Found that HP website had utility for installing BIOS 62.98.6E.00.09 with enhancements:

    – Adds support for the Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition Operating System (32-bit).
    – Adds support for the Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Operating System (64-bit) on select Workstation models.
    – Updates the VBIOS to change the BAR1 size to 64MB.
    – Adds support for additional video memory components.

    Could not find if there were any other enhancements with other upgrades between BIOS 62.98.43.00.07 and 62.98.6E.00.09.

    From the BIOS update documentation concluded that BIOS upgrade should work on my system even though I do not have a HP workstation. Since I plan to upgrade from XP Pro to Windows 7 soon, ran upgrade that installs under Windows. No problems encountered with BIOS upgrade.

    COOLING
    =======

    QUADRO NVS 450 does not have a fan on its heatsink. It runs hot to touch. Installed Antec Spot Cool 3 speed fan. See shared images for Quadro NVS 450.

    OPERATION
    =========

    I run three SAMSUNG 1920×1200 monitors connected to the QUADRO NVS 450 digital inputs. The newest is a 2443BWT-1 24-Inch LCD Monitor. The three monitors are rotated to give a desktop size of 3600×1920. My system is used for real-time charting and programming. I never run games.

    All three monitors were available in the desktop on boot of Windows. Noticed that desktop was not extended to my least used monitor at times. Checked Power Options and set “Turn off Monitor” to “Never” fixed it.

    IMPRESSIONS
    ===========

    Like having all three monitors on one graphics card.

    Like nVIEW and expect that it will be even better with Windows 7.

    Heavily discounted price was reasonable when consider that it replaces two cards.

    Hardware and software running without any problems.
