For the price this is at, its worth every penny. its durable, works great and has a wonderful on board graphics card, i could run many games with out even having a card installed. great for over clocking and over a great board.

The only issue I am having with this board is using a USB keyboard. I cannot get in the BIOS with one. I have to use a PS2 keyboard. I’ve got another USB keyboard coming. I hope that one will work. I have flashed the bios to version FFa, but that didn’t help. USB Legacy Support is enabled in the BIOS. It has no option for just a keyboard. Everything else about the motherboard seems to work fine. I am sold on Gigabyte. They make their boards with quality parts.

Update: The problem was the keyboard. I bought a new USB keyboard and it gets into the BIOS just fine. The old keyboard works fine in my old PC on an ASUS motherboard. I can get into the BIOS fine with it. I don’t understand why Gigabyte doesn’t like that keyboard. Anyway, it is solved.

I purchased this motherboard from Amazon and built a system for a client that utilizes most of the features, including USB 3.0 external hard drives, eSATA external hard drive, Gigabit Ethernet, and internal RAID configured through the BIOS. Everything has functioned flawlessly for the last 3 months. However, he was still using an older VGA monitor, so last week I purchased a 24″ Dell LED/LCD monitor with HDMI capability for him. Upon hooking it up to the HDMI port of the 880GM, I was unable to get the screen image to fill the full display area–there was a black border about 1/2″-1″ wide on all sides. The Radeon driver was up to date, and changing screen resolution settings in Windows didn’t help. After spending time with Dell tech support (they mistakenly concluded that the monitor was defective), I hooked up my client’s Sony VAIO laptop, also with built-in HDMI, to the Dell, and voila! no more black border. So now the problem was isolated to the motherboard’s HDMI port. My call to a Gigabyte support technician brought a quick response: the system was missing the ATI Catalyst Vision Engine Control Center (the technician directed me to AMD’s website, so it is apparently not available at Gigabyte’s website), which is the utility that fine tunes the performance of the graphics chip. Without this, the system defaults to a scaled image on the screen, rather than filling the whole screen area. After installing it and making the proper adjustments to eliminate the “Underscan” setting, the display was perfect. I have no idea why it would default to an underscanned image, and I also don’t know why the Catalyst utility didn’t get installed when I installed the other drivers from the disk that comes with the motherboard. For this reason, I’m taking one star off my rating, which would otherwise be 5 stars for overall performance and great price of this motherboard.
