Bought this board to replace an Asus p6T. I had already RMA’d a prior p6T and the current board wasn’t posting consistently so I decided to pick this board up on the Anandtech recommendation. Installed Windows 7 64 with a crucial SSD to take advantage of the 6.0 GB/sec sata ports, and it’s running like a dream.

One criticism though for EVGA, they put the HD audio pins for the case connector nearly right on top of the only pci slot. I have a pci wireless card and there was a screw in it that was sticking up just enough to cover the lower pins, so this may be a problem for some. Luckily there was enough thread that I could just unscrew it a bit and make it work. It should also be noted that the USB 3.0 ports are only on the external panel of the board, but very few vendors have them on the board at this point. (I have the coolermaster haf 942 which has usb 3.0 on the front, I just fed the cables out of the water cooling slots and into the back of the mobo, no big deal)

I did upgrade the bios on install via usb stick, worked fine, there was a nice step by step available on their forum that worked as advertised. Speaking of bios, it should be noted that the sata 6.0 ports don’t show up in the bios with the other sata slots, it confused me at first and I thought the ports were DOA, but it was fine.

All in all though, besides the HD audio pin placement, this board is awesome!

Best Choice of Mobo for the Price, August 24, 2011

I ordered EVGA X58 SLI 3 Motherboard with USB 3.0 and SATA III 6 GB/s – Two Year Warranty 131-GT-E767-TR for my 1st build for myself (I’ve been building PCs for friends way back when Pentium II was the top of the line CPU). I planned to use this for a gaming rig. I received this item on 9 Mar 2011, 10 days after I ordered it and way ahead of the estimated delivery date (I’m currently in the middle-east). Had to wait for 2 weeks for other items that I ordered for my rig before I could test this.

I just want to mention that this is an amazing mobo for the price. This cannot compete w/ an SR2 or any other classified board that costs more than $500, but it can hold its ground for its purpose. With this mobo, I was able to OC my I7 950 to 4Ghz w/o trouble. Run prime 95 for 9 hours and not a single error was found. I’ve been using this for 5 months now and still not a single BSOD. I’m not a hardcore OC aficionado, so I’m very much happy with my current specs.

For beginners like me who want to explore the world of OC’ing and want a gaming rig that won’t hurt your budget too much, this is a nice board that won’t fail you. I can honestly say that I have no regrets when I chose this one for my 1st build. I’m telling you, I am certain that this is not the best board out there, but you definitely can’t go wrong with this one. I sure didn’t.

Another plus factor for me is the EVGA community. I strongly suggest you register this product on the EVGA website and any issues you might need help with, you can ask and find it there.

Here’s my current build. I ordered most of my stuff here in Amazon.

EVGA has really made a name for themselves lately. The quality of products have skyrocketed. I have done 4 Core i-7 990X builds with this board and absolutely love it. Windows 7 64-bit picks up all the drivers automatically and I’ve had my Core i-7 overclocked to 4.0GHz on air cooling for over 4 months solid. This board is absolutely phenomenal. I recommended this board to another friend of mine who was building a Core i-7 990X and unfortunately Amazon went out of stock for a while (I probably bought most of them up). He ended up purchasing it from a different vendor and after building his PC, he absolutely loves the board also. I highly recommend this board!
