    $ for $, you can’t beat it., April 14, 2012

    This review is from: Asus X54C-BBK7 laptop PC, Intel B960 2.2GHz, 15.6″ HD Display, 4GB Memory, 320GB HDD, Intel Graphics, DVD Burner, WiFi, Windows 7 Home Premium (Personal Computers)

    I have used Asus motherboards in the past and have found them to be reliable, compatible, and a good value. The X54c notebook computer follows in this tradition. Most refreshing is you get the basic software load on the hard drive, and not a bunch of confusing crap that the notebook manufacturer dreamed up “just because”. Keyboard feels good, and the built in numeric keypad is a refreshing feature, especially for those of us who are used to Netbooks. Most, if not all, of these available system configurations come with Windows 7 Home Premium, Microsoft’s 64 bit operating system, which provides improved memory management, and accommodates a total of 8 MB of RAM on this system with an inexpensive RAM upgrade. Display is crisp and bright. Truth be told, the low price of this unit nearly scared me away. You get the CD/DVD RW drive, WIFI, VGA port, FLASH memory reader, and an HDMI port on some models. While this system is probably not optimal for gamers, it is a great system for routine internet access, business applications, and most tasks that require moderate computer power. Dollar for dollar, feature for feature, you cannot beat it.

    Great Computer for Mid-Level User – “Workhorse” Computer, June 16, 2012

    I just bought this computer a few days ago and I think it’s the best laptop I have ever had. I am using it for freelance graphic design with Adobe Software (mostly 8.5×11 print documents @ 600dpi), and for playing games like the Sims 3 (I know, I’m a dork). I was told when I bought this computer that it is not made for editing video, so keep that in mind if you plan on doing any video work. For my purposes I chose not to get the next model up that will handle what the salesman called “hardcore video editing.”

    First, I like that I can use this computer for hours straight and it doesn’t even get warm on the bottom. Most large computers get super hot on the bottom (to me this computer is large, because my old computer was a tiny netbook). The battery life is about what I expected, roughly 3 hours until it needs a recharge.

    The looks of the computer were not very important to me when I started shopping for one, but I do like the texture of the plastic on the hand rest and the outside shell of the computer. It claims to keep your hand cool. I don’t know if that’s the case, but it is a cool design. Not as boring as flat black plastic. My boyfriend got an Acer computer, same exact size and we think the same exact shell, only mine has the textured plastic and it makes a big difference in the look of it.

    One of my favorite features is the matte screen. I don’t know why glossy screens are so popular on laptops – to me a glossy screen makes working in diverse environments more difficult. It’s hard to meet with a client on the patio at Starbucks when they can’t even see what you’re showing them. I was thrilled to find that this computer has a screen with a nice smooth finish and no glare.

    It’s not a very flashy computer, but it’s a good, solid, fast computer for the money. If you want something high quality that will perform for you, this computer is great. I’m not “hardcore” in my work, but I know with this computer I am capable of doing basically anything I want to do. I can see why lots of people use these computers for working on video, music, and print media at a professional level.

    I have nicknamed this computer “Workhorse” on our home network, and it is living up to its name. I would buy it again. Next time I need to go computer shopping I will look at Asus brand first.

    ASUS continues to shine, May 7, 2012

    Lindsay K (Lancaster, PA) –

    This review is from: Asus X54C-BBK7 laptop PC, Intel B960 2.2GHz, 15.6″ HD Display, 4GB Memory, 320GB HDD, Intel Graphics, DVD Burner, WiFi, Windows 7 Home Premium (Personal Computers)

    Owning nothing but HP laptops for the past 10 years, I was skeptical to stray from my favorite name brand. However, this model was the same price as a similarly stocked HP.. and I knew ASUS from back when I used to build my own PCs and bought nothing but ASUS motherboards. Like the other reviewer, I found them to be consistently solid and high quality build-wise, and reliable software/BIOS wise – so I wasn’t too nervous to try out this little beast. I didn’t like the HP because it was missing the HDMI port, as well as having a very inconveniently placed “wifi off” button above the backspace key. I predicted many cursing would be had with its placement. I’d like to have a conversation in a dark alley with whoever planned that keyboard design..

    It’s proven to be a great laptop, and I’m hesitant to use the term “budget laptop” since that infers inferiority. 4GB RAM, a zippy intel processor, HDMI port, DVD burner, built in webcam, and this computer suits all basic-user needs and then some.
