I’ve had two of these monitors for a little over a week, and it’s everything I was looking for. The color accuracy is practically flawless in sRGB mode. I bought this mainly because it was claimed to cover the full sRGB gamut, and after my calibration/testing, I found this to be true to claim. Here I thought that the “individual calibration” sheet in the box was just marketing. My previous sRGB IPS panels covered about 87-90% at best, and uniformity was hit or miss. I would have preferred a CCFL backlight like it’s big brother, but the thinness and power/heat savings of the LED panel does have it’s benefits. The fit and finish of the monitor is extremely high, and very professional (absolutely love the quick fit feature when working in Lightroom).

The glare coating is minimal as well. Don’t worry about the “low” spec’d brightness either, it is not a problem. I personally could care less about off angle viewing, as I don’t do it, but it is as one would come to expect from any IPS panel (that is to say, great). The response time is fast enough for games as well (no input lag), though some can give it a work out. I also really appreciated that they give you every input cable it accepts (minus hdmi). Asus is taking their Pro Art line very seriously it appears, and that’s just one more reason I love their products.

This sRGB IPS monitor is in rare company, and definitely deserves serious consideration in this price/size range.

Edit: Just a few corrections to the specifications – This is a 16:9 panel, it has 4 total usb ports (2 more on the bottom), and no card reader. The specs seem to be mixed between the 238Q and the larger 246Q. Also, what may seem like light bleed is really just the byproduct of IPS panels. With the width of the panel, you are always going to perceive what looks like bleed in the edges. If you move your eyes inline with the “bleed” location, it will disappear (which would not happen if it was the kind of bleed people are used to).

edge bleeding on the unit I received, November 18, 2011

I was really looking forward to receiving and using this monitor. Alas, I must have gotten a bad unit. Seriously backlight bleeding – most of the top right corner and the bottom left. I’ll post a pic I took just before packing it up and sending it back. The stand was really nice, liked all the inputs, especially HDMI (hooked up a Roku and streamed Amazon HD videos to it – looked great unless there was a dark scene, then the problem was very apparent). Overall, I liked the design of the monitor and just wished it didn’t suffer from the backlighting issue. The frame/case seemed to have a lot of flex to it, and I think that was the problem – the plastic bezel was not rigid enough.

LOVE this monitor, September 12, 2011
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

I got this monitor specifically because it has a portrait view. It took me an hour to figure out how to make it work with my new video card, but wow, what a gem. Exceptionally true vivid color, once I got it properly adjusted, but best of all, it makes my instructional design work so much easier in a three-monitor set up. It connects to the video card in about half a dozen ways, including, for the seriously video-card port challenged, by USB port, which makes a multi-monitor set up a snap (and it comes with three kinds of connecting cables, so you cannot possibly be short the one kind of cable your set up uses). I use the monitor to view two pages of Word documents at a time, which makes cutting and pasting, or scanning, or just about everything to do with document editing, much easier. It also makes capturing screens which are very long more easy (no more grabbing two different shots and pasting them together in Photoshop).

It is not for everyone, and if I used it horizontally it would take up quite a bit more space than my desk allows, but for the portrait view, this is a very nice addition to my computer.
