    Outstanding Preformance!, March 18, 2011

This review is from: ASUS P8P67 DELUXE LGA 1155 SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 Supported Intel P67 DDR3 2400 ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)

    Windows 7 64bit Pro
    Asus P8P67 Deluxe Motherboard
    Asus 580gtx 1.5gig
    Cosair 8 Gig RAM @ 1600
    Intel 3.4Ghz 2600k

This motherboard rocks. The BIOS is easy to operate with mouse interface, as well as visually appealing. Instillation was simple. Overall an amazing board, and well worth the money. Highly Recommended especially for the new BIOS.

Cons- The main PCI Express slot lines up with the 6gig/sec SATA connectors. They plug in sideways, so they don’t interfier with your Videocard, but if you ever want to unplug or add in another SATA cable, You MIGHT have to take out your video card depending on which one you have; Minor inconvienence. Also the USB 3.0 module has a very short cable. Plan on mounting it somewhere in your tower almost directly infront of the middile mounting screw. I had to re-arrange some items to get it to fit.

GOOD BANG FOR THE BUCK BUT BUGGY AND TERRIBLE SUPPORT, April 25, 2011

This review is for the B3 revision of this motherboard.

Pros: Best bang for the buck. Compared to a similarly priced Gigabyte boards, this one had more of the features I was looking for such as 2 PCI x16 slots that run at x8 (x16 when not shared), and a third PCI x16 that runs at x4, 4 SATA 6 GB/S, and 4 SATA 3 GB/S. The board also has good cooling and a very nice, streamline EFI BIOS which has a much more sophisticated UI than Gigabyte. It is extremely easy to OC using this mobo.

Cons: HORRIBLE SUPPORT FROM ASUS, first mobo was defective, second board is not defective but buggy like so many others, though this is not necessarily Asus’s fault (seem comments below). The CPU fan header only regulates 4 pin fans. The other 4 pin fan header supports 3 or 4 pin fans. Why, Asus?

General comments: I ordered this mobo for the build listed below. The first one was defective. The system would not post, the error code on the mobo was useless, no beep from the system speaker. I tried everything–reseated the ram, tried different ram slots, reseated the processor, cleared the bios, tried different video cards. I tried calling Asus, and ended up waiting on the phone for about half an hour only to have someone pick up the phone and then hang up immediately. I tried calling again. Waited for about half an hour, then someone hung up on me. I gave up on the phone call and tried the Asus live help chat feature on their website. I waited for about an hour with the screen advising I was being connected to a CS rep. I grew impatient and ended the session. A quick search revealed its a common problem with no single accepted solution. Fortunately I purchased the mobo from Amazon and was able to ship it back for a replacement.

The second board installed without a hitch. Everything went together nicely. However, there are a few bugs that I have noticed. The system will not resume from sleep mode correctly with PLL over-voltage on. This is a known bug, which, at the time of writing this review, has still not been fixed. I am also experiencing some occasional boot failures. The cause of these bugs are currently unknown but they seem to be a widespread problem reported by Asus P8p67 users. For that reason, I will not ding Asus for these issues in my rating (-1 star for poor support only).

Just an FYI: The RAM slots are in pretty close proximity to the CPU so if you have RAM with tall heatsinks (Corsair Vengeance), you will not be able to populate the first RAM slot with most air coolers installed. The CPU heatsink/fans will get in the way. You will have to either pick RAM that is not tall or go with water cooling, as I did.

Side note: Amazon ROCKS! The return policy is excellent and I feel safe buying high end components from them. Even with the high failure rate of a lot of components, I know I am protected by their return policy and excellent customer service. Amazon is way ahead of the game in this regard, even when compared to retail giants like newegg and tigerdirect.

I should have listened to the reviews here, the board is junk. Sometimes it would post, sometimes not. Was fast when it ran but usually would hang with error “19” on the LED display upon post. On the way back to Amazon very soon, just ordered the P8Z68-V PRO. Wish me luck.

    *UPDATE* 6/26/2011
RMA’d this board and got the P8Z68-V PRO. Booted right up, flashed to a new BIOS, installed Win 7 64 no problem – got it on the bench for a few days before I replace my main system. Been perfect so far!! I must mention Amazon’s RMA policy for defective merchandise is spectacular!! I’m a customer for life if they stay at the level they’re on now.
