    My first quad core!

    W7 experience: 6.9

I’m using it with a Scythe Mugen II and haven’t had a single problem. File compression and audio transcoding are brisk. I don’t notice any slowdown during other processor intensive tasks either.

I don’t overclock so this review might not be too useful for OC junkies.

Given the price, I can easily recommend this processor to anyone doing audio processing or video rendering.

This is a fairly good processor, but most likely aimed towards an htpc rather than a gaming rig due to being 95w. I’ve been using it for a year and it has served me well. I managed to overclock my 945 to 3.8ghz on air and the performance gains was quite noticeable in certain games such as starcraft 2. Something to keep in mind though, this is not the best choice for your money. I would recommend getting a 955 black edition processor simply because the multipliers are unlocked which makes overclocking that much easier. On top of this, the stock cooler of the 945 is absolutely awful. When I was running some stress tests on the stock heatsink at stock clocks, the temperature of the processor would not stop rising. At around 73c was when I shut off prime 95. Now after replacing the heatsink with a hyper 212+, the cpu temps never rise above 47c under full load and overclocked. I would highly recommend replacing the 945’s stock cooler with an aftermarket heatsink for the purpose of overclocking or even low noise.
