I was a little nervous to buy this without reading someone’s assurance that it would do specifically what I wanted: record our band multi-tracked into a MacBook.

But it works great. No hiccups while streaming 6 channels at once into Garageband. Amazing at the price.

This mixer has been in production in my podcast for about 1 year. It is a workhorse. It works great… no problems. We generally use it with two microphones and often with a third skype track. The skype call comes from a dedicated PC which feeds one of the inputs (we send one of the sound outs to the mic in on the skype PC so they can hear us).

The nice feature about this mixer is that it utilizes USB 2.0. Like firewire mixers, this mixer can send independent channels to the PC for recording. We can record each channel separately which is nice for post production.

If you are looking for a great quality mixer for a home recording or smaller live gig – look no further. I purchased this mixer for my home recording studio, replacing a traditional older analog mixer. I am so impressed with the feature set of this one, each channel (left and right) is an indivdual sound output via a single USB 2.0. This means that all my guitars, bass, drums, vocals can be recorded all at once with total channel separation for remix. That is the feature that caught my eye and provoked me to purchase it, since it’s impossible to remix a blended analog mixer output after the recording is done. After setting it up I discovered more features that really brings my recordings to the next level. It has dedicated channels for low impedance instrument cable so I can plug everything in directly (no amps) and record “dry”. This allows me to customize the tones for each instrument during the remix. I never got any good results trying that with the analog mixer so I always recorded wet. Microphones are a breeze to setup as well. My sound check time has dropped dramatically.

I purchased this for use as a mixer, I already have a pro sound card for my studio recording. This is a testament for this mixer, my pro sound card is now gathering dust in a closet. I use the sound card that is built into the mixer exclusively for everything (it serves as a traditional soundcard in ASIO or WDM modes also).

I would highly recommend this for either small studio or live. The feature set is a really nice surprise after setting it up as well.
